Last Thursday, January 14th, more than three dozen members of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement and fair immigration reform allies gathered outside Congressman Leonard Boswell’s Des Moines.
The groups held a press conference, releasing a report from the Center for American Progress and the Immigration Policy Center that confirms immigration reform would make economic sense (to the tune of an extra $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years).
The group called on Rep. Boswell to support immigration reform and the DREAM Act. Following the press conference, the met with Boswell staffer Ted Tran who said that Rep. Boswell knows that the country needs immigration reform because the current system is broken. He also added “its the humane thing to do.”
